NYP Speaker Led Members to Visit Youth in Parliament C’ttee Chair

The Speaker of the Nigerian Youth Parliament, Rt. Hon. Azeezath Yishawu @azeezatyishawu led a delegation of parliament members to visit Hon. Olamijuwonlo Alao Akala. @lamijuakala

Akala who was recently announced as a Chairman of the House of Representatives standing committee on Youth in Parliament by the Rt. Hon. Tajuddeen Abbas during the house plenary last month.

The delegation of the Nigerian Youth Parliament has visited the Chairman to congratulate him on his appointment as Chairman of the Youth in Parliament and to seek the committee’s support and collaboration to ensure the voice of young people is contributed to the decision-making process.

In her speech, the Speaker of the Parliament congratulated Hon. Olamijuwonlo Alao Akala on his appointment as the Chairman of the Youth in Parliament Committee.

“Honourable, we have gone through your record ranging from Council Chairman in Oyo State, you have been an advocate for youth inclusion which has been a reason that your appointment didn’t come to us as a surprise.

“We have very optimism that with you as the Chairman of Youths in Parliament Committee, you will justify the confidence repose in you considering your antecedent and track record,” She said.

In his response, Olamijuwonlo assures the parliament of his openness and readiness to carry the Nigerian Youth Parliament in our duties.

“You have a duty of sensitization young people at a grassroots level to make them understand the works of the legislature, hence we will ensure the scope of our committee has carried you along so that your advisory resolution will contribute to the decision-making process,” He said.
