I moved my first motion on the floor of the House, which seeks to curb the use of casualized labour by employers of labour in Nigeria.

The oppressive and exploitative act of casualisation of employment in Nigeria is rapidly spreading in an unprecedented proportion of intensity and scale, which is clearly contrary to the provisions of Labour Act CAP L1 2004.

Despite the law limiting worker casualisation to three months, the practice of casualisation remains prevalent in Nigeria, where casual workers occupy a precarious position in the working place and society and are effectively a new slave.

After due debate and proposals by my honourable colleagues, the motion was voted on and referred to the following House Committee:
•Banking Regulations
•Banking Institutions
•Labour, Employment and Productivity
•Legislative Compliance.
