The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara State has concluded its senatorial primary election for the Zamfara Central Senatorial District, with Dr. Sanusi Bala Turaki, popularly known as Sarkin Dawaki Maituta, emerging as the party’s unopposed candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The primary election, held at the PDP State Secretariat in Lalan Gusau, witnessed delegates and representatives from Gusau, Tsafe, Maru, and Bungudu Local Government Areas unanimously endorsing Sarkin Dawaki as the consensus candidate.

The exercise was supervised by officials from the PDP national headquarters alongside state party leaders, while a national delegation led by Alhaji Ibrahim Dogara monitored the process, underscoring the strategic importance of Zamfara Central in the party’s 2027 plans.

Speaking after his emergence, Sarkin Dawaki expressed gratitude to party leaders, delegates, and supporters for the confidence reposed in him, describing the endorsement as both an honour and a call to greater service.

He pledged to provide quality representation at the National Assembly, prioritizing grassroots development, economic empowerment, and effective advocacy for the people of Zamfara Central.

Party officials described the peaceful and consensus-driven primary election as a strong indication of growing unity and stability within the PDP in Zamfara State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
