From sorrow to smiles!”

On Tuesday 2nd January 2024, Nabeeha AL-Kadriyah was kidnapped and subsequently killed on Saturday, 13th January, by her cruel abductors.

In the wake of this tragic event, we, as the Women Affairs Secretariat FCT, led by the Hon. Minister of State, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, went on visitation to express our heartfelt condolences and emotional and other critical support for the bereaved family.

As a Secretariat, our Mandate is aimed at bridging the gap between empathy and political will for governance and community advocacy spotlighting FCT women and the vulnerable girlchild.

During the visit, the minister of state spent time listening to the family;

Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud has assured residents of the territory that the efforts put in place by the FCT Administration to address the issues of insecurity across the territory will soon yield positive results.

She also stressed that since the reported cases of kidnapping in recent times, the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, has declared “fire for fire”, concerning the security situation in the city centre including the satellite towns and suburbs.

As the Abuja community grapples with the more recent upscale of tragic security incidents.

The FCT visit serves as a reminder that compassion and unity are fundamental in the face of adversity.

May the Nabeeha AL-Kadriyah family find solace in the shared strength of our community of unity, faith, peace & progress.

And may justice prevail for the victims.
