The head of adolescent girls department, Women Affairs Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Dr Hauwa Aminu Wambai, has been conferred Fellow for peace and mediation by the Institute For Crises Resolution, Peace Building and Conciliation ( ICRPC).
Conferring the award on Dr Wambai and others, in Abuja on Friday, the registrar of the Institute, Dr Abdulwaheed Odewale explained that the recipients deserved the awards based on their antecedent in Peace, Mediation and Conflict Resolution space.
Speaking after receiving the award,
Dr Hauwa Aminu Wambai said the award is a dream come true as the prestigious institute has recognised her service and labour in peace and mediation.
Wambai said that as a former staff of FCT department of security services, she has been actively involved in sensitisation programmes in rural communities on the importance of peace-building.
The recipient, who is a UN-trained Peace Ambassador, also advised Nigerians to continue to employ dialogue as a means to resolving issues, adding that the ICRPC would link members to national and international network of peace builders.
Dr Hauwa Aminu Wambai has a degree in Sociology, Masters in Public Administration, another Masters in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, and a Honourary Doctor of Public Administration from DIIBS International University, and currently a doctoral student in Peace Studies And Conflict Resolution at the National Open University Of Nigeria, (NOUN).
Our reporter gathered that the Institute For Crises Resolution, Peace Building And Conciliation (ICRPC)was established in 2009 by the Federal Government, for the development of crises management and peace-building, through education, sensitisation and advocacy.
