YOLA, Adamawa State — Businessman and politician, Hon. Abdulrahman Haske, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), where he has emerged as the party’s candidate for the 2027 Adamawa State governorship election.

Haske announced his defection to the APM at a political gathering in Yola on Saturday, in an event attended by party leaders and stakeholders, traditional and community leaders, youth and women groups, and supporters from across Adamawa State’s 21 local government areas.

Speaking on his decision, Haske said his move was motivated by his belief that the APM provides a credible platform for pursuing a people-oriented development agenda and building a more prosperous, inclusive and secure Adamawa.

“Today is not merely about joining a political party; it is about strengthening a movement dedicated to the future of Adamawa State.

“Our objective remains clear: to build a state where governance works for the people, where young people have opportunities to succeed, where communities are connected to development, and where public resources are managed transparently for the common good.”

According to a statement signed by his Publicity Secretary, Abdulgaffar Ahmed, Haske identified agriculture, infrastructure, education, healthcare, economic empowerment, security and accountable governance as key priorities of his political agenda.

He expressed appreciation to the national leadership of the APM and the Adamawa State chapter for the confidence reposed in him through the party’s governorship ticket.

“I am deeply grateful to the leadership of the Allied Peoples Movement for their belief in our shared vision and for entrusting me with the responsibility of carrying the party’s flag in the 2027 governorship election.

“I accept this mandate with humility and an unwavering determination to justify this confidence through integrity, hard work and dedicated service to the people of Adamawa State.”

APM Backs Haske for 2027

Speaking at the event, APM National Chairman, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, said the party decided to back Haske following extensive consultations and his record of commitment to development, youth empowerment, inclusive leadership and social impact.

Dantalle said Haske’s vision aligns with the principles of the APM and expressed confidence in his ability to provide an alternative political direction for the people of Adamawa.

“After extensive consultations, we are convinced that Abdulrahman Haske embodies the values and principles for which the Allied Peoples Movement stands.

“His belief in empowering ordinary citizens, promoting inclusive development and building stronger communities aligns perfectly with our progressive vision.”

He added that Haske possesses the leadership capacity, credibility and energy required to present the people of Adamawa with a compelling alternative ahead of the 2027 election.

The Adamawa State Chairman of the APM, Badejo Bello, also welcomed Haske into the party, describing him as a bridge-builder with a strong understanding of the state’s challenges and development opportunities.

Bello said Haske represents the kind of leadership capable of connecting with the aspirations of the people, adding that his emphasis on inclusive development is consistent with the APM’s progressive agenda.

The event concluded with calls for unity among party members and supporters as the APM begins its preparations and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 Adamawa State governorship election.
