GOVERNOR MUTFWANG VISITS PROF. NENTAWE YILWATDA, CONGRATULATES HIM ON HIS EMERGENCE AS APC CHAIRMAN, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO UNITY FOR NATIONAL PROGRESS

Plateau State Governor, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has described the emergence of Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a victory not only for Plateau State but also for Nigeria’s evolving political landscape. He called on stakeholders to embrace unity in advancing collective progress.

The Governor made this known during a solidarity visit to the APC National Chairman at his residence in Maitama, Abuja, where he led a high-powered delegation of political stakeholders following Prof. Yilwatda’s emergence at the party’s recent national convention.
Speaking during the visit, Governor Mutfwang highlighted Plateau State’s enduring legacy in shaping national leadership, noting that Prof. Yilwatda’s elevation reflects the growing influence of the state in Nigeria’s political space. He described the diverse composition of the delegation—comprising former governors, lawmakers, party leaders, women, and youth groups—as a clear demonstration of unity and shared purpose.
“This moment is not just about one individual; it is a reaffirmation of Plateau’s historic role in producing leaders of national consequence,” the Governor stated. “The broad-based representation you see here today signals a new beginning for our politics—one anchored on unity, inclusion, and a shared vision for progress.”
Governor Mutfwang further urged stakeholders to set aside political differences and work together in the interest of the state and the nation. “We must rise above our divisions and commit ourselves to building a stronger Plateau and a more united Nigeria. The task before us demands cooperation, sacrifice, and a shared sense of responsibility,” he added.
He expressed strong confidence in Prof. Yilwatda’s leadership capacity, assuring him of the support and goodwill of the people of Plateau State.
“We have no doubt in your competence and integrity to lead at this critical time. You carry not just the mandate of a party, but the hopes of a people, and we stand firmly with you in prayers and support,” Governor Mutfwang said.
In his response, the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, described the visit as a historic demonstration of political unity in Plateau State and expressed deep appreciation for the show of solidarity. He pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him by providing purposeful and inclusive leadership at the national level.
“This gathering is deeply symbolic. It sends a powerful message that Plateau can speak with one voice when it matters most,” he said. “I am humbled by this support and fully committed to discharging the responsibilities of this office with diligence, fairness, and a clear focus on strengthening our party and contributing to national development.”
Prof. Yilwatda also reaffirmed his readiness to work collaboratively with leaders across Plateau State to promote good governance and sustainable development. “My doors will remain open to constructive engagement. Together, we will ensure that the interests of our state are well represented while advancing the broader goals of our party and the nation,” he assured.
